Glass Floor Lamps. Jewelry Lamps: Articles of Power, Objects of Art remembers Louis Comfort Tiffany’s (1848-1933) revolutionary contributions to contemporary decorative lighting. Organized through the Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Cup in New York City, this event presents the first in-depth look into the Tiffany Studios’ deliberate initiatives to produce lamps that stability artistry with utility as well as profitability.
Some forty spectacular objects in an array of colours, sizes and decorative designs are featured in five areas exploring the themes of manufacturing, design inspiration, changing illumination technologies, and pricing and also affordability. The show also contains tools, materials and time period photographs to enhance the viewer’s appreciation of the objects through demonstrating how they were made.
